Last week’s Koigu KPPPM yarn arrivals can now be seen in the online shop. We received a particularly good selection of the stippled variety, which are often my favorites. I set these groupings aside as I was photographing them.
The two in the center appeared red to me at first, though that changes when you place the orange hank next to them.
And these look good with both the green and the orange solids.
Pairing solids and multis makes me think of the fun Baby Surprise Jacket combinations you could make. It’s knit with 2 hanks and you could make random-width stripes.
The stipples also make me think of the Big Bad Baby Blanket from the book Stitch ‘N Bitch. It’s a square blanket with a wide seed stitch border and stockinette and reverse stockinette squares in the center. It takes 8 hanks and is knit with the yarn doubled, so it’s thick and cushiony. This would be great for my nephew who’s already 18 months old and I still haven’t knit him a blanket yet.
Or maybe socks with solid color heels and toes and stipples in between. Or a vest with the solid ribbed trim and the stipple for the body. Or – even better – a vest with a multi-color slip-stitch pattern that uses the solids and stipples together.
It’s sure easy to come up with ideas for Koigu! I’ve got to cast on.
