So, I think I'm just an idiot. I've tried to make this hat twice, to no avail, and everyone else calls it easy. :) One section of the pattern, in the way in which it is formatted, is confusing me.

The instructions for the band are very clear. Fab. I always do that correctly.

Then, the crown section is mentioned, and I'm completely confused. It says:
***
Crown
For smaller size –
*K13, k2tog; repeat from * to end. (56 sts).

For both sizes –
Knit all rounds for 3 inches.
***
There are no instructions for what to do for the larger size. It's also unclear what "all rounds" refers to: Does it refer to the *K13, k2tog..." etc. line above? Or to all subsequent rounds? But that wouldn't make sense, because all of the subsequent rounds have very clear row numbers. :)

All of this a long way of saying: What exactly should one do for the crown? For how many rows, exactly? Is the *k13, k2tog..." row only supposed to be done once? For three inches? (I tried that tonight and it didn't turn out well).

I LOVE this pattern and would LOVE to be able to make it for my husband, dad and brother for Christmas. Thank you for posting it and putting up with comments from confused people like me. :)
