Kate’s Latest Shawl

by Craig on February 21, 2008

Kate found a hank of Schaefer’s Anne yarn in her stash and decided to create her own shawl pattern.

“This is a pastiche of designs worked from the top and punctuated by K2tog, YO every 5 or 6 rows. Then I used Old Shale for maybe 7 inches and edged it off with K1, YO to get an expanded edge to allow for a very elastic bind-off,” Kate writes. “Finally I used the official elastic bind-off: K2 *replace 2 sts on the left needle and then k2tog tbl, K1 and repeat from * until 1 st remains. Cut yarn and fasten off.”

The result is fantastic! A colorful shawl with great movement.

I love this shot, which really shows off the lace. Thanks for sharing your shawl and pattern with us, Kate!

That is just gorgeous. Oh my gosh. I meant to post before. I have every intention and many needles, patterns, and thoughts to make a shawl, but I really want to do this one. Doesn’t sound possible. Thanks for sharing. The color is just beautiful.
