The Sock Side

Martha's Noro Socks

Anyone who knows me knows that I love to knit socks. I always have a few socks on my needles and I’m constantly trying to bring new knitters over to the Sock Side.

Socks are great summer knitting, and a perfect project year-round. I love that a sock is small enough to toss in my purse and isn’t going to make me overheat while I’m knitting in the park or while waiting for the bus. There are so many options—different heels and toes, and new patterns to try—that I never get tired of socks.

The socks you see here were knit out of the beautiful Kureyon Sock yarn, by our good friend Martha. In addition to new colors of Kureyon Sock, we have a huge selection of sock yarn in every color imaginable.

Martha's Noro Socks

We offer sock classes regularly. The next class starts on July 7. I hope to see you there!

  1. Dang. I’ve managed to resist the pull of Kureyon sock yarn until now, but the socks in your first picture just sucked out all the willpower I had. I can resist no more. They’re gorgeous!

  2. The socks are goegeous. What pattern did your friend Martha use?

  3. I have knit for many years, but have never knitted socks. Can you suggest a good pattern to start with and also what yarn?

  4. Thank you, Vis Major and Veronica. The pattern is Fiber Trends Peak Experience/Mount Hood. Another pattern which works up beautifully in the Noro sock yarn is Annetrelac from last year’s IK’s Holiday Knits; you can get a tiny peak at it in the bottom picture of four socks in a pile; it’s the bottom two socks. BTW–the Noro sock yarn gets softer with every washing so please don’t let the way it feels in the ball put you off.
