Yes, you just carry the yarn not in use along the side.

Question….so do you just leave those short “loops” along the side that result from changing colors but not cutting the ends?

I made the Silk Garden Scarf a few months ago and it is beautiful. It was very easy to do, and very enjoyable changing yarns. I plan on making a few more for gifts.

I made this scarf and the pattern was identical except at the second row of each color you slip the first and last stitch purlwise. It makes a beautiful edge on this scarf. I also noticed people are perplexed by this scarf. Especially other knitters. I also use one casacde 220 and two silk gardens, so you have solid with color changing stripes.

Hi Jodie,

You’ll cast on with Color A and work 2 rows. Then you’ll join Color B and work two rows. At the end of that second row of Color B, you’ll drop Color B, pick up Color A and work two rows. So instead of cutting and re-joining, you just knit with one color at a time and leave the other one until you get back to it.

I’m excited to try this scarf but I’m not sure what you mean by “don’t cut the yarn that’s not in use, just carry it up the side” Can you explain to me how to do that?
