Michelle caught the lace bug after knitting her beautiful Hemlock Ring Blanket. And being the adventurous knitter that she is, she played around with some Merino Spray yarn that she’d bought and came up with the lovely Lacy Rib Cowl!
I love the lacy fabric contrasted with the seed stitch and large buttons.
Michelle was kind enough to share her pattern with us. The Lacy Rib Cowl is a wonderful gift that you can make quickly in these last days before the holidays! Here’s how –
LACY RIB COWL
SIZE
approx 23 by 5.5 inches
YARN
2 balls of Queensland Collection Merino Spray – 1 for Main Color, 1 for Contrast Color
NEEDLES
24″ circular size 7
GAUGE
5 sts per inch in Seed Stitch
STITCH PATTERN
Row 1 (K1, p1) 5 times, p2, *k1, yo, ssk, p2; repeat from * to last 10 stitches, (k1, p1) 5 times.
Row 2 (P1, k1) 5 times, k2, * p3, k2; repeat from * to last 10 stitches, (p1, k1) 5 times.
Row 3 (K1, p1) 5 times, p2, *k2tog, yo, k1, p2; repeat from * to last 10 stitches, (k1, p1) 5 times.
Row 4 Repeat Row 2.
PATTERN
Cast on 112 with Contrast Color. Work Stitch Pattern for 4 rows.
Change to Main Color and continue Stitch Pattern until piece measures 1.5 inches from cast on edge.
Buttonhole Row 1
Work 5 stitches in seed stitch, bind off 5 stitches, continue in pattern to end of row.
Buttonhole Row 2
Work in pattern to last 5 stitches, cast on 5 stitches, complete row in pattern.
Continue until piece measures 3.5 inches from cast on edge. Repeat Buttonhole Rows 1 and 2.
Continue until piece measures 5 inches from cast on edge.
Change to Contrast Color and work Stitch Pattern for 4 rows.
Bind off loosely. Weave in the ends and attach buttons.
