Striped Carriage Blanket

UPDATE, 3/26/16: We no longer carry the yarns mentioned in this post, but this blanket can be made with any DK-weight yarn. A superwash yarn will make it easier to care for.

The Striped Carriage Blanket is a wonderful gift for new arrivals. It’s knit with luxuriously soft Sublime Cashmere Merino Silk DK yarn in several sweet baby colors that can be changed to suit a boy or a girl.

Striped Carriage Blanket

At 30 by 30 inches, it’s the perfect size to tuck around your little one on walks through town or just to lay on at home.

  3. Thank you so much for creating this and sharing it for free. I’m going to modify it to use baby yarn from my stash and will make sure to post it on Ravelry when it’s finished (with a reference to your original, of course). Beautiful work!

  4. Hey
I have just purchased my wool to make this 🙂 and i got the wool FILATURA DI CROSA ZARA 8PLY. It says to use 4.00mm needles but im not sure how long i should get my circular needles? is 100cm ok? or should i get it longer? thank you

  5. Yes, 100cm will work just fine. Have fun!

  6. Hi,

I am a fairly new knitter and I am trying to make this in an adult size. Can I just knit to the length I desire and then add the border. How do I adjust the border size.

  7. Yes, you can make this blanket longer by knitting to the length you want and wider, too, by casting on more stitches at the beginning. You don’t have to do anything to adjust the border, just follow the directions as written.

  8. Hi there. I am a new knitter and am working on the blanket but I’m having trouble understanding the border. Do you have any videos on how to do it? That would really help. Thanks

  9. I don’t have a video, but I’m sure you can find one if you search “pick up and knit stitches”. Good luck!
