Garden Scarf

Stitch ‘N Bitch Crochet: The Happy Hooker is the book I reach for when someone wants to learn to crochet. The text is clear, there are lots of photographs and illustrations to help you along, and there are 40 fantastic patterns. It has more than enough to keep a new crocheter busy!

Cashmerino Aran Garden Scarf

The first pattern in the book is the Garden Scarf. It’s a perfect first project for a new crocheter. You make one flower at a time and connect each to the previous one as you go, so the only finishing is weaving in the ends. If you’re really good, you can weave in the ends as you go. It may not be something you’d wear everyday, but it sure is a fun piece to have in your wardrobe.

I made this Garden Scarf with Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Aran yarn. You could use any worsted weight yarn and get flowers of about the same size.

If you’re curious about crochet and would like to learn more, the next session of Crochet 1 class begins Saturday, March 14. You’ll learn the basic stitches, crochet a scarf, a hat and granny squares. After class you’ll be ready to make your own Garden Scarf or any number of fun crochet projects!
