Glam and Fit Knits

me and Stefanie Japel

We had a great and busy weekend with Stefanie Japel!

Stefanie landed in Philadelphia Friday afternoon after hours of travel. Fortunately, she had time for a quick nap before Stitch Party began. Once she arrived at the shop, we put out all of the beautiful samples from Fitted Knits and Glam Knits that she’d brought for us to see. They were the topic of much discussion through the evening, but none more than the Textured Circle Shrug from Glam Knits, which Stefanie was wearing.

Over the next two days, Stefanie taught us how to convert flat knitting patterns to circular knitting, how to fit commercial patterns to our particular shape, and how to design our own top down sweaters. She was patient with us when the math was confusing and inspired us to take charge of our knitting when we were hesitant. I can’t wait to see what those who took the classes come up with! I was able to take two of the classes and have so many ideas floating around my head that I really don’t know what to swatch first. I’ll probably stick with the cardigan I sketched in the design class.

Thanks to all of you who came out to knit with us at Stitch Party and to help us welcome Stefanie! And thank you to those who took her classes! Be sure to show us what you do with your new knitting and designing skills!
