Amalia Scarf

Back in April when the weather was first getting warm, we wanted to knit something light and airy that you could wear even as the temperature rose. Alchemy Silken Straw yarn immediately came to mind. It’s a beautiful silk ribbon yarn that feels stiff like raffia in the hank, then softens into a strong, flowing fabric as you knit, wash, and wear it.

Having chosen the right material, we then designed Amalia.

Amalia is knit with just 1 hank of Silken Straw yarn. The finished size is approximately 48 inches across the top and 18 inches from the top down to the point. You can wrap it around your neck, drape it over your shoulders, or even tie it on your head when you’re driving with the top down!

Silken Straw’s brilliance comes from the hand painted colors applied by Gina Wilde of Alchemy Yarns. There are rich nearly-solid colors and complex multi-hued colorways. We used the solid color called Cherry Tart.

The pictures don’t do it justice. I’ve seen (and drooled over) Silken Straw in the store – it is GORGEOUS.
