Fall Sweaters for Asher and Caleb

by Craig on September 29, 2009

My mom, Joan, decided to knit her grandsons new sweaters for fall. She’s become a big fan of top-down knitting, so she turned to her go-to pattern, Knitting Pure and Simple’s Baby Pullover pattern.

For Caleb, who’ll celebrate his first birthday next week, Joan chose Spud & Chloe Sweater Yarn in firefly and moonlight. She followed the pattern as it’s written and added the two yellow stripes after separating the sleeves from the body.

When she went to knit Asher’s sweater, Joan realized that he’d outgrown the Baby Pullover pattern sizing. Fortunately, Knitting Pure and Simple’s Children’s Neckdown Pullover pattern picks up where the baby pattern left off, with sizing for ages 2-4 to 10-12.

Again, Joan used Spud & Chloe Sweater Yarn, this time in colors chipmunk and grass. For this pullover, she placed one bold stripe across the body and sleeves.

After a few weeks in the shop, Joan gave the sweaters to the boys, who were very happy to have them. (Well, Asher was happy about the sweater, Caleb’s just generally happy, it’s sometimes hard to know about what!) I don’t know if they’ve worn them yet, but today is a perfect day for new sweaters!

My mom bought that Neckdown Pullover pattern at your shop oh let’s see, a year ago maybe? I’ll have to send her this post to hopefully encourage her to pick it up again.
The finished sweater looks great! I love the brown and green.
