Holiday Gift Idea: Calorimetry

by Craig on December 3, 2009

Calorimetry (pronounced kal-uh-rim-i-tree) is a headscarf that keeps you warm without smushing your hair the way a hat might. It’s knit using short rows, a technique that’s often used for shaping the bust or shoulders of sweaters, so it really makes the most of self-striping yarns.

Mochi Plus Calorimetry

This version was knit with 1 ball of Crystal Palace Mochi Plus. It’s a machine washable, worsted weight yarn that’s soft – and as you can see – colorful.

Taos Calorimetry

This Calorimetry was knit with Crystal Palace Taos. It’s a hand-wash, worsted yarn that comes in great bright colors. This version is a little large for Kathy, but because it’s ribbed and adjustable, she can still wear it.

Because Calorimetry uses only one ball of yarn and knits up quickly, it makes a great last minute gift!
