I’m thrilled to welcome the lovely and multi-talented Shannon Okey to Loop for the first time on February 12, 2011. Shannon has worked in almost every aspect of the yarn industry – teacher, designer, magazine editor, and now, publisher. Her range of knowledge is vast – and she’s going to share what she knows about sweater design with us! This is a wonderful opportunity to start designing your own sweaters.
Shannon recently served as editor-in-chief of UK-based knitting magazine Yarn Forward. She now runs her own publishing venture, Cooperative Press, focusing on both digital and print publications. Shannon also owns and operates Knitgrrl Studio, a teaching space and shop in Lakewood, Ohio.
Shannon is the author of numerous knitting books including Knitgrrl, Knitgrrl 2, How to Knit in the Woods, the revised edition of Knitting for Dummies, and most recently, The Knitgrrl Guide to Professional Knitwear Design.
Shannon edited and wrote the instructional text for Just Socks, Just Gifts, and Crochet Style. She has also published two sewing books, AlterNation and The Pillow Book. Whew! That’s quite a resume!
