Making Friends with your Handpaints
$40 – Saturday, November 12 from 10am to 1pm
This class is designed for knitters who love hand-painted yarns, but aren’t quite sure what to do with them. Topics include an overview of hand-painted yarn effects, machine-dyed variegated yarns vs. hand-paints, dividing hand-paints into three groups based on the color patterning and discussing the best options for knitting with each type. We will also discuss why hand-paints pool, how to deal with pooling, blotching and other unattractive effects, and the effects of gauge and circumference on the appearance of hand-painted yarns.
Secrets of the Schematic
$20 – Sunday, November 13 from 10 to 11:30am
Want to learn more about how a sweater will fit? Want some easy ways to tweak the pattern so it will fit you better? This class will explain to knitters the information that is available to them using a schematic, including what the measurements mean, how measurements correspond to fit, shoulder styles, and simple adjustments that can be made to customize fit.
Seating is limited, so please call (215-893-9939) or stop in to reserve your space today. Pre-payment is required and will be refunded only if the class is canceled.
Carol will be in the shop after the classes until 4pm to answer your questions about her yarns and to suggest projects for them. Carol’s Black Bunny Fibers are made in small batches and are not widely available, so they make great gifts for your knitting friends. And, of course, they’re perfect for one-of-a-kind holiday gifts for your friends and family.
