Top-Down knitting is one of the most popular ways to knit a sweater. You can try the sweater on as you knit it and there are no – or just a few – seams to sew when the knitting is done.
You can learn this technique in our new Introduction to Top-Down Sweaters class. Loop staff member and knitwear designer Erika Flory has created a small pullover (modeled below by adorable K!) to take you through the process.
By the end of class, you’ll have learned the key points of top-down knitting and be able to knit any number of patterns written this way. And you’ll have an adorable pullover that’ll fit a 1-year old – a great gift for a little one or expecting parents!
Our sample was knit with Lorna’s Laces Shepherd Worsted yarn in the color Cermak. Shepherd Worsted is a super-soft superwash wool yarn. It’s wonderful for colorful garments and accessories that you want to be able to easily clean.
If top-down sweater knitting is new to you or if you’re intimidated by sweater knitting in general, I hope you’ll join us for this class. You’ll be surprised how easily it can be done.
