Loop staffer, Erika Flory, has done it again! Her design, Fairmount, is a lovely top down sweater that’s just right for autumn’s in-between weather. The combination of stitch pattern and color block makes it interesting to knit. Hannah, a blend of baby alpaca, merino & cashmere, gives this tee extra polish and a luxe, soft feel to knit and wear.
Fairmount is all about versatility. We like to have options, right? I like the idea of wearing it now under a fitted jacket or blazer now and then layering it more as the weather gets colder. I can see putting it over a cute, stripey long sleeved tee and adding a big soft cowl to top it off. So cozy! If you wanted a full-on winter look, you could easily make the sleeves full length since it’s knit from the top down.
Then, let’s talk color- there are so many colorblock options! Erika knit hers in silver & forsythia and I love it. Pairing a neutral with a bright is always a good way to go. Hannah’s silver, charcoal & cocoa look awesome with every color!
I am also a big fan of a monochrome scheme with a lighter & darker version of the same color- like sky & navy or grass & teal. Even if color pairing is not your strong suit and you choose to knit all in one color, Hannah’s 15 rich shades are sure to please!
As always, Erika’s instructions are clear and easy to follow. This, combined with her clean, simple style, is a big reason why her patterns are always so fun to knit!
