Time and again we reach for our Favorite Scarf patterns. These four stitch patterns make beautiful scarves that are perfect for keeping or gifting. They’re great for new knitters who are still getting familiar with knit and purl stitches, and they make an easy project for experienced knitters who want something mindless.
Another favorite for scarves is the 1×1 Rib. Alternating knits and purls – and always knitting the knits and purling the purls – makes for a scarf that almost looks like stockinette, but lays flat.
We used 2 hanks of our Studio Plus in Crimson to make this version. For it, or any worsted weight yarn:
Cast on 40 sts or a multiple of 2
Row 1: *K1, p1; repeat from * to end.
Repeat row 1 to desired length. Bind off in pattern.
