Hill Top by Helen Stewart of Curious Handmade is a crescent-shaped, garter stitch shawl with interspersed lace panels and a pretty picot edge. The soft curve of the crescent is flattering whether you wear tied in front or tossed over one shoulder.
Hill Top’s made with two hanks of The Fibre Company’s Cumbria Fingering. We used the color buttermere, a beautiful gold. Hill Top is knit on size US 6 needles, but for tight knitters, a US 7 is recommended.
Cumbria Fingering is a wonderful blend of brown wool from rare breed sheep, fine South American merino wool, and mohair. Over-dying the brown wool yields rich, deep shades. The hardest part of this project is picking just one color!
