Baby Knits Classes

Small Things Sweater by Carina Spencer

Baby knits are some of our favorites because they help us celebrate a very special time in our lives. We want to welcome these newest additions to our friends and families with gifts that keep them safe and warm.

Our new Baby Knits Classes will take you through the process of making three fantastic baby gifts: a bonnet, a cardigan, and booties. With each you’ll learn new knitting techniques and have beautiful clothes to give.

Carina Spencer’s Small Things Bonnet is a great pattern that comes with 2 hat styles – a rounded bonnet and a pixie hood – and 2 closure options – a button or i-cord ties. I knit the pixie hood for a friend’s baby and loved making it; I loved seeing on their little boy even more.

I used Blue Sky Worsted Cotton, which is the yarn we’re recommending you use. It’s super soft organically-grown cotton, so it’s perfect for tiny, fragile heads. And it comes in an amazing range of colors. You can use any comparable worsted weight yarn, however, for yours.

The pattern is sized for infants, toddlers, children, and adults – you could make them for the whole family!

The Small Things Sweater has the same beautiful details as the Bonnet on a double-breasted cardigan. Again, Worsted Cotton is the perfect yarn in either or matching or complementary color. Knit from the top down with a built-in edging, it’s available in 7 sizes from newborn to 2T.

Baby Booties by Loop Staff

I wanted a pair of booties to go with this set, so Kathy and I worked out this pattern together. They’re made seamlessly in the round on double pointed needles. Once you’re familiar with the pattern, you can knit a pair quickly, making them perfect for a last minute gift.
