Cameron Cardi

Cameron Cardi

The Cameron Cardi is an adorable sweater for your 6 to 24 month old. Knit seamlessly from the top-down – even the edging is made as you go! – it works up swiftly and is ready for gifting in no time.

And with Hedgehog Fibres Merino DK yarn, you have a soft and cozy, beautifully hand dyed piece!

Cameron Cardi

The Cameron Cardi‘s yoke features garter ridges that add texture and visual interest. They continue beneath the sleeves on the sides of the body. The sweater ends with a garter stitch hem that ties it all together.

We chose Hedgehog Fibres’ beautiful Merino DK yarn in the color Pistachio for the cardi. It’s hand dyed in County Cork, Ireland in a way that prevents pooling and makes every skein unique.

Merino DK is machine washable, so it’s easy to care for. Just be sure to tell the recipient to wash it in cold water in a gentle cycle and to lay it flat to dry.

Stacia

Stasia

Stacia is a fantastically soft infinity scarf made with a luxurious cashmere blend. Wear it in one long loop or double wrapped for maximum warmth. It’s an accessory you’ll wear again and again – and one your friends will always want to borrow!

Stasia

Stacia is knit with one strand of Filatura di Crosa’s Superior and one strand of Filatura di Crosa’s Nirvana held together for a blend of cashmere, silk, and extra fine merino wool that is out of this world. You’ll love every minute of it in your hands and on your needles!

And the knitting is easy. Garter stitch in the round – which is done by alternating rounds of knit and purl – and eyelets made with yarnovers is all it takes to create this beautiful fabric. Using a size US6 needle with these two lace weight yarns, gives Stacia its gossamer feel.

Stasia

Stacia is available in nine gorgeous shades. They’re kitted and ready to be knit. The kits include 2 balls of each yarn and a printed copy of the pattern. (The pattern is also available for purchase individually.) You’ll also need a 40-inch size US6 needle, which is sold separately.

Stacia is a treat every knitter deserves – click here to choose yours!

New Shop Sample: Westbourne [Kinu love]

westbourne

Westbourne [Kinu love] is a simple pullover that’s soft and light-as-air thanks to Ito’s beautiful Kinu yarn.

Kinu_snow-gray_persimmon-2

Kinu is a light fingering weight yarn made of 100% silk noil (also called organic silk). Different colored fibers are combined for a melange effect that gives depth to the knitted fabric. For Westbourne, Kinu is knit at an open gauge of six stitches per inch to maximize its drape and airiness.

We made our version with snow gray for the main color and persimmon for the stripes.

Westbourne has a wide neck, three-quarter length sleeves, and a comfortable fit. Because it’s knit seamlessly from the top down, you can easily make the sleeves short or take them down to the wrist.

For bust sizes: 34 (36, 38, 40, 42, 44, 46) inches, you’ll need: 2 (3, 3, 3, 3, 3, 4) cones of Ito Kinu in the main color and 1 cone of Ito Kinu in the contrast color.

New Shop Sample: Hitchhiker in Koigu

Hitchhiker Scarf in Koigu

Last week, Kathy finished knitting Martina Behm’s Hitchhiker Scarf in Koigu KPPPM color P839-67. It’s so much fun to play with different combinations of Koigu yarn that I sometimes forget how beautiful a piece is in just one colorway. The shades of blue and purple look like an Impressionist painting.

Hitchhiker Scarf

Hitchhiker is a shallow triangle made in garter stitch, so the knitting is easy. It’s stepped edge is made by binding off stitches – also easy. You don’t need to count stitches, just bind off all stitches when you have the length you want. Kathy’s version is 60 inches long and 11 inches at the deepest point.

Hitchhiker's stepped edge

To knit your own, you’ll need 3 skeins of Koigu KPPPM, a 32-inch size US 4 circular needle, and the Hitchhiker pattern.

Bronwyn Scarf

scarfstack2

Bronwyn is a big, beautiful scarf knit in Blue Sky Bulky! There is no doubt that you will be warm and cozy wearing this astonishingly soft 50/50 blend of wool and alpaca. Blue Sky’s clear, bright colors are a welcome antidote to a cold winter’s day.

Big Scarf

You will have so much fun knitting Bronwyn! One scarf took me about 2 episodes of Homeland (I love that show!) – so this scarf is perfect for checking off your holiday knit list.

The stitch pattern is a simple fisherman’s rib that creates a very fluffy, dimensional fabric. It’s very similar to brioche but it’s much less tricky. It uses a K1b, or K1 below, to make the extra puffy stitches.

K1b is exactly what it sounds like- instead of knitting the next stitch on your needle, you knit the one BELOW the next stitch on your needle and then slip both stitches off the left hand needle.

Here’s a video to give you a visual, if you need it!

Big Scarf 2

Bronwyn feels substantial, looks beautiful and knits quickly- making it ideal for gift knitting. Here’s our free pattern, enjoy!
