We’re very happy to welcome Alana Dakos to Loop on Saturday, September 7, 2013. Alana’s teaching a class on sweater finishing from 2 to 4pm and will be in the shop with some of her designs from 4 to 6pm.
Alana lives in California where she designs knitting patterns, blogs, and produces her podcast all under the name Never Not Knitting.
Sweater Finishing Techniques with Alana Dakos
$40 – Saturday, September 7 from 2-4pm
Master new techniques to finish your sweaters like a pro! Alana will guide you through the process of creating perfect invisible seams using the kitchener stitch and mattress stitch. Learn the best way to pick up stitches accurately, connect shoulder seams with a 3-needle bind off, and to correctly weave in yarn tails and block your finished project.
All of these techniques are featured in Alana’s new book, Botanical Knits.
Worsted weight yarn
3 double pointed needles
1 pair of straight knitting needles in size US 8.
(Make 2) With worsted weight yarn and a size 8 needle, CO 18 sts. Work 12 rows in St st, 12 rows in Rev St st and then 12 rows in St st. Slide all stitches to a stitch holder to be worked later. Cut yarn leaving a long tail. Repeat for second swatch.
(Make 2) With worsted weight yarn and a size 8 needle, CO 18 sts. Work 24 rows in St st. Slide all stitches to a stitch holder to be worked later. Cut yarn leaving a long tail. Repeat for second swatch.
